Newtons Thoughts

Maybe you have never heard about the debt Snowball method so I will tell you briefly what it is all about. Basically, it's a method for successfully paying debt accounts off one by one. Sometime in the past, many thought that doing this would include organizing your accounts by interest rates so that you could pay the account with the highest interest rate off first. Then, later you would pay the next account off that has the next highest rate.

In the last few years, the debt Snowball method has become fairly popular. It does a similar method of paying off accounts one by one but you start with the account that has the lowest balance. The main feature behind this method is psychological. The people that end up in heavy consumer debt are those that have difficulties with paying off debt in the first place. If the person in debt can start paying off the account with the lowest balance, he or she will get satisfaction from completing that task. Afterwards, the next account with the next lowest balance will be paid off.

The whole time, each account will be paid its minimum payment of course. You certainly don't want to incur late fees because that would be self-defeating. The amount of excess money you use to pay off the first account every month, can then be used to pay off the next account once the first account is paid off. With each account, the amount of excess money you have available for paying off accounts becomes greater which is sort of like how a snowball becomes bigger. You gradually get a bigger snowball amount of money to pay off your accounts.

The improvement I suggest, which you don't read about everyplace but... the improvement I think is good to implement... is to call each credit card company asking them to reduce the interest rate. Not all of them well reduce the rate but there's no hurt in trying. This helps to reduce the amount of money you pay out over the long run by probably much more than you would expect.

If you happen to be a simple average Internet user that also has at least one e-mail address. Maybe sometime in the past you have filled in a form or two.... maybe you somehow left your e-mail address on the Internet for automatic programs to pick up. In some way you might have let your address be available for people who spam. Many of those spam e-mails you get will likely be on one major topic that is so close to many peoples lives today.

Though spam e-mails happen to be focused on debt consolidation. Yes, spammers are simply out to do your business if you happen to be one of those many people having debt problems. The debt consolidation industry happens to be a very big industry because so many people have found themselves deeply in debt. Those high interest rates have put them in such a fine financially that they are having a hard time making ends meet. They look for a way to make their burden lighter through consolidation. Some people that get these spam e-mails actually respond. Even if fraction of a percent of these e-mails get response, they will have been profitable.

However, it's too bad that many people think consolidating their debt is the only way to go. For some people, it will definitely work. For others, they will eventually see that this false sense of security of having their finances in control after consolidating debt will lead them to further financial problems.

As this article, Getting a Loan to Consolidate Bills , talks about, some problems may be created by the good feeling of having only one payment to make. I have seen this with a friend of mine. It's possible to feel so good about making that one payment to pay off your debt that you start using your credit cards again and creating even more debt. Eventually someone without any willpower for avoiding the act of purchasing things they desire using their credit cards will develop even more debt to do with.

Therefore, there are alternatives to consolidating a person's debt. It can be done.

If you happen to have a spouse... of the female persuasion, it might have come up that she prefers the toilet seat to be down. Now, what she really means is that she would like to have that toilet seat part with the hole in it to be down.... she's not necessarily talking about the whole toilet seat... I mean, the lid. So it seems to me to be fair that if we are expected to have the toilet seat down then the whole thing should be down which includes the toilet seat lid.

Whenever I have asked why does the toilet seat need to stay down.... you know when I am looking for a reason why she wants it that way... she replies in that she would rather not accidentally sit on it in the middle of the night when it's dark with the toilet seat up. That certainly is funny because I would not want to do that either. Also, on the other hand, I would not want to go number one with the toilet seat down. So I ask, why can't you just find out if the toilet seat is down already? Why not check before you sit?

I have also heard the argument that toilets should be closed at all times. Okay, who wrote that rule in the rulebook? Maybe toilets are supposed to have the lid open all the time. It's all how you look at it. I can agree that having the toilet seat down and including the lid will likely make the bathroom looked better or more presentable. However, without the lid, it really does not look much different. So if someone argued that the toilet seat should always be down, then I would argue that the lid should also be down. Otherwise, I would promote the toilet seat to be up... especially if there are more guys and household.

But you know what? I know I will not win. This is not something to argue about or get into a dispute about. What it really comes down to it, this is a minor thing... I rather be on very good terms with my wife than to have something like this come between us. I know that taking my fights will help keep the relationship together.... this toilet seat thing is not worth it.

...Reading Iraq China Oil Deal

It's really good that China has become so successful in the world economy... anyone that goes to a store inside the United States will likely find many items made in China. In fact, if a person goes into one of those dollar stores, I expect that 80 or 90% of those items will have come from China... at least it seems that way. That means that China has become rich as a nation overall and many citizens there have much more buying power. This includes purchasing cars.

Demand for oil around the world is at an all time high. China having the capability of using oil increasingly demands much more of it. Unfortunately, our gas will continue to rise.

It's sort of scary to think that China's going around the world looking for oil to purchase because it only makes it worse for us in the United States and other countries. Yes, I know that we in the United States have been spoiled for a long time. We're definitely going to have to tighten our belts in the future as is right now.

Something I have thought about after saying this deal between China and Iraq is that where will the money go to win Iraq gets it? I mean, we have been over there for many years trying to help them get an economy that is somewhat stable. Initially, they were supposed to help pay for everything by using their oil but I don't think that has happened. So, with this $3 billion oil deal with China, will any of that money be paid back to United States citizens? We have paid many years for the reestablishment of Iraq through our tax dollars and it would be nice to have some of that money paid back.

If there's any nation in this world that needs less debt, it seems that we do. We pay all this money to Iraq but we continually increase our mountain of debt as we have continually in the past. This problem in Iraq only makes it worse. So it would be nice if Iraq paid some of that money back.

Getting older has its good points and bad points... one of those bad points is your body's ability to retain fat much easier. I got a little of that myself. Actually, a little more fat than I would really care to admit to myself. However, I realize I have some that needs to go away.

Some of this fat located in my belly or stomach probably is the most serious. This article, lose the stomach fat , tells little more about the seriousness of why I am thinking about trying... at least trying to get rid of it.

Sometimes I really can't believe how fast time flies, especially when you get older. It seems that one week in your older age is equal to about one day or even a half a day when you were a child. These years just fly by so fast it seems that it was only yesterday.

Not only time but look at technology. We now have MP3s and CDs for listening to music. It seems that we have lost a lot but also gained. There's definitely a difference between old records and those CDs or MP3s of today. Whenever I hear a vinyl record being played, it seems a fair amount different. I remember those 78 rpm records which were so enjoyable to hear. How about those 33 RPM LPs.

Interestingly enough, but recently searched about possibly obtaining some of these old records and came about an interesting site that displays some available records for sale. Right here you can get 78 records for sale

The sounds that these records give cannot be matched in various respects to the technology we have today. I would never want to give up my MP3s and CDs but sometimes it's nice to be able to hear the sounds of yesterday on vinyl records. I'm really thinking about getting into collecting some of these in further amounts.

Maybe you have been watching the Olympics lately. Did you happen to see the opening ceremony? I first thought about it when I happened to see a post about a prerecording of the ceremony practice session Chinese Olympics Ceremony Preview On Video

Someone actually recorded the Olympic ceremony practice without officials actually knowing. I guess it might have been a violation of copyright to distribute the video online but it was certainly interesting while it lasted. Chinese officials did all they could to rid the Internet of this copyrighted video. I think they were successful. Anyway, this is sort of an example of the Chinese government being very controlling.

There are two other examples of the Chinese being very manipulative regarding the Olympics. In the Olympic opening ceremony, do you happen to remember the little girl singing? This little girl was actually lip-synching to the vocals that were actually saying by a different younger girl behind the scenes. Apparently, the other younger girl behind the scenes was not good looking enough or cute enough to be seen worldwide.

Also, the Chinese somehow required the fireworks video to be incorporated into the politics ceremony broadcast although the fireworks could not actually be seen from the stadium. It was almost like they were adding it in much like a movie would during editing to create a more interesting experience for the viewer.

Recently, I was looking at this article http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/articles/apwire/9d8d71484b7f5044982bc228ec730afd.htm

where he talks about guarding your identity. This definitely comes close to home since someone used my identity to take down an account with AT&T cell phone service a year ago. That almost seem like I had gotten raped... I will say that I know it definitely was not anything like that though because I have never been or would want to be raped. Therefore, I really should not compare identity being stolen to getting raped so I'm sorry for even mentioning it.

Anyway, having someone take out an account online can be somewhat debilitating. I found out that this person actually got enough information about me to get access to my credit report online. You know that website that allows people to get free access to their credit reports annually. You can do this for free every year.

Anyway, soon after I found out that an AT&T account was set up under my name and credit, I decided I needed to access my current reports. I knew that I could get access to my credit reports online for free every year so I decided to find that website. Eventually I found it. However, after attempting to get access, I found out that someone had gotten access a week before. Since someone already gotten access, I was not allowed to get access again within the year. So it was disheartening to find out that someone had all my credit information. This means they had my so security number, my name and address, and since they got access to my credit files, they had all this other information now also.

I then went into the process of rectifying everything. I went to the local AT&T store to close the account and tell them about someone using my name to create an account. I had to fill out various forms. I then went to the local police station to file a report. Later I put a stop on all my credit reports to prevent people from setting up more accounts.

Not too long ago a posted something about a correlation between creating debt..or needlessly spending money to purchase consumer items we don't need and developing fat on our body. I definitely have to include myself in the same boat at least with respect to developing fat. Recently I have noticed that more fat has started to occur on my stomach. I really want to lose this belly fat drastically.

It's interesting because sometimes I watch that show Oprah where they have a doctor visiting occasionally named Dr. Oz. I don't remember his real name but he and another doctor have written a book called “Your Owner's Manual”. They definitely seem to know what they're talking about especially since they have some believability behind them being doctors. Let me add that it seems like they are very good doctors and not people just looking to get their names in the limelight.

Anyway, along with seeing this show a few times and noticing that I need to lose some of this belly fat, I remember hearing something very important that these doctors said. They said that fat around the belly has the ability to show whether or not you are likely to have heart disease in the future. I think they said that this fat basically will help your hard work much harder overtime. It also gives a good understanding of how much fat is in your system amongst your core organs.

Basically, you need to measure around your waist at the bellybutton to see how you measure a recording to standards. Men need to fall under 35 inches measured around the bellybutton and women need to fall under 32 inches. Well, just walking down the street or being amongst many Americans, I can see that a likely majority do not fall under this category. They are actually wider than these measurements.

It's also interesting how weight is lost. I recently saw this article which helps explain a little more about toning the abs . I will be trying to put some of this advice in to practice. If I have the willpower I think I can be successful.

One thing that has always irked me to no end is the size of the credit card late fees that companies imposed on their customers for getting the payment in late. I do know that it's important to get your payment on time but does it really have to be such a large charge to the consumer. I mean, these late fee charges are just exorbitantly high for what they cost the credit card companies I'm sure.

One really easy way to keep from having to pay late fees is by setting up automatic payments using the minimum amount. Whenever you accidentally miss your credit card payment at the end of your cycle, this automatic payment system will simply pay your minimum amount for you. You don't want to get into the lazy mode of living this payment system pay your credit card because paying the minimum requirement is stupid. If you resorted to doing this every month, it would take you many years to pay off your current balance on average for the most common credit card holder.

One thing to keep in mind is that setting this automatic way of paying your credit card every month is only a catchall function. You still should be paying your credit card your self even though you have set up this system of paying the minimum payment. What happens is that if you forget your payment, the system will be enacted.

Let's look at an example. Let's say that I usually make my payment on time whether it be paying the full balance or paying an amount much more than the minimum payment. So we are coming up on a time may be in the summertime where I'm on vacation and I simply forget to pay my credit card. If I had not enacted this automatic system to pay my credit card, my company would have charged me a late fee of some amount likely $35 or more. This nice money amount could have been used for an evening out with my spouse. Maybe I could have got pizza for the whole family instead of paying this stupid fee to the credit card company.

I think we all know that the credit card company really is not being fair in charging this amount of money but since we agreed in the beginning to abide by the credit card companies rules, they have the right to charg us. Therefore, try to take advantage of these automatic payment systems that they have for the consumer.

Don't get me wrong, I still think credit cards are a great deal for most consumers. I really do like the convenience of being able to use my credit card in various places without fear of losing a lot of money as in the case of having cash or using a debit card. With a credit card you are only liable up to $50 for any unauthorized purchases made with your credit card. I think that's a great deal.
